Abstract

Abstract

In this study I present an investigation on the types of complete sentences, distributed in a hierarchy between more or less verbal / nominal, based on real data of conversation. It is a work on the grammar of the complementation of Brazilian Portuguese, more specifically on grammatically available constructions, based on certain types of verbal fitting predicates, in relation to the role that these constructions play in the complete structures of Portuguese.

Abstract

The articles that make up this organization are divided into three major thematic axes. In the first part, the texts discuss, in general lines, the control of the body and the government of the subjects. In the second part, the articles deal with representations of the marginalized Brazilian in interface with exclusion and inclusion. The texts of the third and last part address the representations of the masculine and the feminine in the public and in the private, the production of identities of the political subject and the processes of teaching subjectivity. It is hoped that, at the end of the journey undertaken by the authors, the possible interlocutors will be able to extract from it a theoretical and methodological path that allows understanding how the subject's production materializes in media discourses. Abstract

The present volume is an introduction to the study of Language Acquisition, especially centered on Portuguese. Even though the different chapters always take Portuguese as a point of departure, a comparative perspective is assumed and Portuguese data is compared to data from other languages, when relevant. This book aims at filling a gap in the literature: an introductory textbook to be used by students of Language Acquisition in Portuguese-speaking countries. The book is composed by chapters authored by several Portuguese and Brazilian researchers and it presents in textbook format a relevant part of the research results obtained during the last decades. The book starts with a general historical presentation of the field. The following chapters explore the acquisition of phonology and syntax and consider the problem of typical and atypical development, as well as linguistic assessment. Bilingualism and L2 acquisition are the topics of two independent chapters. Two final chapters discuss the development of linguistic awareness, in relation to the acquisition of writing.

Abstract

The study of the interrelationships between language and society, based on a journalistic corpus, is the primary focus of this book. It deals with the investigation of the system of forms of treatment in the newspapers of the São Paulo Black Press - a movement carried out by black people and aimed at this population in the period after the abolition of slavery in Brazil - and in O Combate - a newspaper with a wider circulation in the city of São Paulo. São Paulo at the beginning of the 20th century. The forms of treatment represent a privileged example of the relationship between linguistic choice and its social motivator. They were analyzed from the relation of some theoretical points of view, namely: the study of the newspaper as a hypergender, proposed by Bonini (2003, 2004, 2006), in order to evaluate the peculiar characteristics of each genre the newspaper; the proposal to analyze the interlocutor's situation at the time of Soto's statement (2001); the investigation of the interactivity marks, proposed by Andrade (2008); and Brown and Gilman's semantics of power and solidarity (1972 [1960]). The study of this linguistic phenomenon revealed the need of black people of the period to conquer a space in the São Paulo society of the time and, thus, the Black Press represented a space for the circulation of their voice in society.
